President's Letter
April 29, 2024
Dear Lone Star runners,
I hope everyone is enjoying the variety of weather to run in this Spring!
St. Patty’s 7K was our latest club race that was a great success thanks to Nicole, Brad, and the volunteers! This is a super fun race with a great, flat route through the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood. At just over 4 miles, several people were able to set a new PR at this different distance! It drizzled pretty good for about the first two miles, I was super grateful to be wearing a waterproof jacket. My only regret is I was not wearing a hat to keep the rain out of my eyes. I remember thinking during this race just how wonderful it is to have runner friends, we are all cheering each other on as they run by us, we run by them, or at the finish line. After we each crossed the finish line, many of us stayed for fellowship and prizes at Pondaseta. I especially loved the shirts and the age group winner hats!
I have been a member for years, and I have run in a lot of races. I did not realize how much work and time is put into a race until directing one myself recently. I am so grateful for the great volunteer officers, race directors, and other volunteers that I have been able to work with. Thank you so much for your service! If you ever are interested in directing a race or volunteering, please reach out to us.
Our next club race is Wild West, there is a 4 mile option, and 8 mile option, or a mile walk. We hope to see you there! We are working to make race registration more efficient for members, if you have any trouble, please let me know. If you have any recommendations for LSRC, please feel free to email me or we would love for you to join us at the next meeting.
Happy running!
Katie Rodriguez
