President's Letter

Hello, Lone Star Runner Club members!

The Board of Directors is excited to update you on several upcoming changes to the membership renewal process and our race registration and results software.

Beginning in 2025, ChronoTrack will be used for all membership renewals, registration and timing. There are many improved features in this software for packet pickup and administration. There is also the ability for runners to look up race results on their phone immediately after a race.

Since this transition is occurring soon, we are waiving the requirement to pay renewal dues for the remainder of this year. The ongoing process will require everyone to renew their membership in December or January for the new year, instead of renewing on an anniversary date that is unique to each person. We are hopeful this will make it easier to remember whether you’ve renewed each year since it will always be due around the first of each new year.

We would appreciate everyone encouraging others to join the club today or before the end of the year. All new members will be considered a member in good standing for the remainder of 2024 and ALL of 2025 as well. We see this as an opportunity to increase our membership during these next few months, and we hope you’ll help grow the club by asking your friends to join, too.

With this change, effective immediately, there is no longer a three-year renewal option. This option proved to be too hard to administer and we didn’t see a significant number of members using it. There was no growth in the membership either. If you are currently under the three-year renewal option, your membership will also automatically extend through 2025 unless you renewed this year. For those individuals your membership extends through 2026. We will send a reminder at the appropriate year end.

Finally, we don’t want you to forget about the Gran Prix competition for all members of the club! It’s easy to participate and win prizes. For all club races you run or serve as a volunteer, you will receive points for those events. If you’re interested in being a race director for a club race, you receive the most points awarded for an event. The points are compiled for the calendar year and the members with the greatest number of points win. The categories include top male, female, and masters in both as well.

More information can be found on the website. If you do NOT want your name posted in the Gran Prix points list online, please email me at .

In addition, if you have any questions or comments about these changes we’d love to hear from you. Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. Volunteers are always needed if you’d like to get involved and meet more people at one of our events. We are a group of volunteers who have a common goal to stay active. We are glad you’re on our team and we look forward to seeing you at the next club race, Turkey Trot will be on Thanksgiving again this year. The date is Thursday, November 28th. It’s the main fundraiser for the club, so we hope you’ll join us at the best attended race all year. Thank you to Victoria Salas for being the race director.

Thanks,

Katie Rodriguez
